Email Print PDF

My oven does not hold a set temperature...

  • Check to make sure the door is closing properly. A broken door does not allow the thermostat to shut off allowing carbon monoxide to escape. This will damage sensitive control electronics and produce a potentially dangerous situation.
  • Check the capillary tube, which senses the oven temperature and is adjusted by the oven temperature control. Be careful not to bend the tube.
  • Test the oven temperature by placing an oven thermometer in the center of the oven and set the temperature control switch to  350 degrees. Wait at least 20 minutes, then check the thermometer. If the temperature is not reaching the adequate temperature contact a professional appliance repair person.
